last wedding of the year

but it was a real pretty one. i used purple velvet to bind the bouquets and they felt gorgeous to hold. that's me until the start of january. happy new year.

another year

as this year draws to a close i'm thinking - blimey. quite a year that was. there's been lots of weddings (obviously) a funeral that i had kept my fingers crossed all year that wouldn't happen and was so heartbreaking when it finally did. i set up shop. we moved house. i fit more flowers in a mini cooper on one occasion than i ever thought possible. i've learnt how to make a mean eggs benedict. i've made new friends. thankyou so much to all the gorgeous brides and brilliant people i've had the pleasure of working with this year. i'm excited about what 2011 brings. have a wonderful christmas.

if i could wolf whistle at a wreath...

...i would.

this is the shit. without doubt the sexiest wreath i have seen this year. saipua i salute you.

the life of a magazine hoarder

i have always had something of a magazine habit. interior and design mags mostly but i am a broad church and don't like to place limits on these things. the amount of money i have spent on this compulsion over the years is probably quite horrifying. i was delighted to discover recently that i am not just wasting money however but actually increasing my creative productivity and opportunity and who am i to argue with that?

this is the launch issue of anthology. it's american and rather good. the only thing i can't get past is the paper, it is the same size as a toast or howies catalogue and has the same matt thing going on. i like my magazines glossy. i know that is not very environmentally PC but it's just how i roll.

nice article inside on flowers though and keeping a cutting garden. i would love a cutting garden, my idea of absolute heaven...

things i have learnt this weekend

1. my new favourite mug ever is called 'york' from habitat. i don't really like habitat all that much but this is the perfect size and chunkiness. white to boot and only £2 a pop.

2. if you ever see a second-hand accordion going for a song and it is a bit dusty but gorgeous and beautifully inlaid with mother of pearl, you should buy it. otherwise you might think about it a little obsessively and wish you had.

3. carnations can be surprisingly good.

snowed in and under

i've been quiet lately i know that. mostly because due to unforeseen circumstances our house looks like this. i'd say we were about right on track for christmas, wouldn't you? really all this room needs is a little bit of tinsel i think and it's good to go. just three weeks until christmas you say?? are you sure? at least we didn't offer to host christmas this year, now that would be a pretty silly suggestion...

meanwhile i've got one wedding left to do in 2010 and then my work here is done! until january anyway. this year has been busier workwise than i had ever dared hope for and 2011 is shaping up real nice too.

and of course there has been the snow. the girls and i have barely left the house.

this afternoon we took the advice of katy elliott and made some salt dough decorations for the tree (but admittedly ours aren't quite as pro). the tree will look quite charming nestled in amongst the rubble don't you think?
